“Cold Cut Express”

Last week your union stood with brothers and sisters in NYC to protest the “Cold Cut Express”. We are diligently fighting to keep our jobs as President Anderson (Amtrak) continues his plan to outsource 1700 of them. The fight is far from over and we plan for all your concerns to be heard in the following months. Until then, know that we here at Local 43 have got your back.

Meet Us at the Park

It is Union Day at Guaranteed Rate Field on September 9, 2018! Please join your union family for a small fee of $14/person ($20 for parking if needed) to see the Chicago White Sox face the LA Angels. The game will commence at 1:10PM on Sunday, September 9, 2018. Please contact LSA LaTonya Snowden (773) 706-1928 for further details.

Facebook Woes

Amtrak has been passing out discipline to individuals who have made reference to the organization or its management team in a negative light. As much as it is your 1st Amendment right to post how you please, your union representatives highly recommend immediate discretion in this matter while we find a work-around that ensures your continued right to free speech.

Saving the Trains

As some of you may already know, Amtrak has recently removed the dining car from two long-haul trains, the Capitol Limited and the Lake Shore Limited. In addition to lost jobs, the quality of food on these trains has significantly declined. This has not gone unnoticed. A team of our international union was recently on the scene protesting the change and fighting for justice.

I AM 2018

Your local, yes, Local 43, joined with thousands in Memphis, TN earlier this year to commemorate Dr. King’s movement on behalf of the sanitation workers 50 years ago. Unite Here was very well represented. Check out some of the photos!
